Kites of Fukuroi
Having studied under Utagawa Hiroshige, it comes as no surprise that Hiroshige II uses a similar landscape style and composition for his piece, Kites of Fukuroi. This scene is from a series by Hiroshige II, One Hundred Famous Views in the Various Provinces (occasionally translated as “in the Country” or “in Japan”). The colors in this piece are so lush and the bare legs of the kite-flyers so alluring that it leaves the viewer in breathtaking anticipation of the warmth and joy of spring.
